The functionality we were all (and our customers) have been waiting for is reality with the release of WAP UR6: VM Checkpoints.
This is another great example of the WAP team interacting with the community and prioritizing based on the uservoice, VM Checkpoints was on number 4 with 225 votes.
The limit of checkpoints is set to 1 (this cannot be changed at this time).
If we want to create another checkpoint you will delete the earlier created checkpoint.
Restoring a checkpoint is as easy as creating one.
Click the restore button and a dialog will open that will let you restore the checkpoint you made earlier.
WAP will communicate again through SPF with Virtual Machine Manager to restore the checkpoint.
This sums up the new checkpoint feature in Windows Azure Pack UR6.
